Garlic Chilli Oil Dipping Sauce (Printable Version)

Aromatic and vibrant dipping sauce featuring golden garlic, fiery chili flakes, and fresh herbs in silky oil.

# What You'll Need:

→ Aromatics

01 - 6 large cloves garlic, finely minced
02 - 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, finely grated

→ Chili & Spices

03 - 2 tablespoons crushed red chili flakes
04 - 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns

→ Herbs

05 - 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped

→ Oil Base

06 - 1 cup neutral oil (grapeseed, canola, or peanut oil)

→ Seasonings

07 - 1 tablespoon soy sauce
08 - 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
09 - 1 teaspoon sesame oil
10 - ½ teaspoon sugar
11 - ½ teaspoon salt

# Directions:

01 - Place minced garlic, grated ginger, chili flakes, Sichuan peppercorns, and chopped cilantro in a heatproof bowl.
02 - Pour neutral oil into a small saucepan and set over medium heat. Warm until the oil shimmers but does not smoke, approximately 350°F—test by dropping in a piece of garlic; it should sizzle immediately upon contact.
03 - Carefully pour the hot oil over the prepared aromatics in the bowl. The mixture will bubble vigorously and release a fragrant aroma. Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
04 - Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and salt until fully dissolved and evenly incorporated.
05 - Let the sauce cool completely to room temperature, then transfer to a clean glass jar. Seal tightly and refrigerate—flavors develop and intensify after several hours.
06 - Serve alongside dumplings, noodles, grilled meats, or crusty bread. Drizzle over stir-fries or roasted vegetables for added depth.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It turns store-bought dumplings into restaurant-worthy food in under twenty minutes
  • The sauce keeps for weeks in your fridge, meaning instant flavor whenever you need it
  • You control the heat level, making it perfect for everyone from spice lovers to cautious beginners
02 -
  • Overheating the oil will burn the garlic and create a bitter taste that ruins everything
  • The sauce thickens in the refrigerator but returns to its silky consistency at room temperature
03 -
  • Double the batch and keep one jar for yourself, gift one to a friend who needs a flavor upgrade
  • Use the oil left at the bottom of the jar for stir-frying, it contains all the concentrated flavor
